A successful commission description/write up will help an artist illustrate mentally what the image looks like using descriptive sentences and reference images.  I use the terms description and write up interchangeably so please don’t get confused, they are the same thing. Doing a commission write up is an activity I recommend that you do before you hire an artist.  It's a writing exercise and it's an opportunity to let your creative juices flow and to structure your thoughts in an organized manner. A commission write up has several parts.  When I begin writing a new commission write up, I list these parts
